I’m Reena founder of You and Your Story, Chartered Marketer, CIM Midlands Vice Comms Chair and host of Marketing Ninja Unleashed.
I grew up in Leicester. I was the quiet one at school, every school report said the same thing. ‘Quiet and conscientious.’ That was me.
I was fired from my first job at 16 for being too quiet. Two weeks later, I walked into an interview for a warehouse job and was offered a role in customer services because, apparently I came across as warm and approachable.
Same person. Completely different outcome.
That moment stayed with me. Because it taught me something that’s shaped everything I’ve done since: how you communicate who you are changes everything. Not what you achieve. Not your credentials. How you show up and how that lands for the person on the other side.

And through all of it, the thread that runs through everything is the same: it always comes back to people.
Who’s in the room. Who you’re trying to reach. How well they understand each other. And how clearly the business communicates who it is and what it stands for.
That’s why I built You and Your Story the way I did. Not as a traditional marketing agency that runs campaigns and measures clicks. As a growth agency that starts with people and builds everything from there.

Most businesses invest in marketing before they invest in understanding who they're actually talking to - or who they are. Who their customers really are. How their team communicates, and how that shows up in a sales call or a LinkedIn post. What they actually stand for, and whether anyone outside the business knows it.
You and Your Story was built on a simple belief: the businesses that grow fastest know their people better than their competitors do. Not just the customers. The people inside too.
That's why we work across two sides of the same problem. Your People (the team, the culture, how everyone communicates.) and your Audience (the customers, the market, the story you tell them.)
We've seen what happens when you fix only one: great marketing pulling in customers a team isn't ready to serve, or a brilliant, motivated team with no marketing to let anyone know they exist.
