The Pregnant Man – This brilliant ad campaign was created by Saatchi & Saatchi in 1970.
Aimed at men with one simple question; Would you be more careful if it was you that got pregnant?
The story behind this is incredibly inspiring and what made me go into the bar/restaurant when I saw the random name on Google Maps!
The ad was originally intended for doctor’s waiting room displays, the ad appeared in Time magazine as well as a number of other publications. As the ad became famous, so did Saatchi and Saatchi and fast forward a few years, the brothers decided to treat their agency and buy a pub in the car park of their offices – the name of the pub had to be their first advert – The Pregnant Man – genius!
And in 2017 when Saatchi & Saatchi moved into a new space on Chancery Lane, they transformed their private agency bar into a fully-fledged bar and restaurant serving the whole community around it.
but it doesn’t end there, since the ruling of Roe v. Wade in the US, the core message in the campaign became more relevant than ever. So Saatchi & Saatchi reimagined their initial campaign with Samuel Alito, Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court Justice, as the face of it – See their message to the supreme court here: https://saatchi.co.uk/work/the-pregnant-man-supreme-court
